[Android] About 'Marketing Opt-out' in Google Play Developer Console

When submitting an Android app in the Google Play Developer Console, there’s an item called “Marketing Opt-out,” so here’s a memo of what I researched about it.

The “Marketing Opt-out” item is unchecked by default, and next to the checkbox is the following explanation:

Do not promote my application outside of Google Play and Google-owned online/mobile services. I understand that it can take up to 60 days for changes to this setting to take effect.

If you want more exposure for promoting your application, it seems best to leave it unchecked.

The following article provides a detailed analysis.

Limiting Marketing Targets

If you want to market your app only through Google Play, you can exclude it from marketing elsewhere using the following method:

Log in to the Google Play Developer Console. Scroll down to find the app you want to exclude from marketing. Select [Pricing & Distribution]. Select [Marketing Opt-out] under [Consent].
