[Windows] Fake Java Update Sites and Solutions

Around October 2014, fake sites prompting Java updates were trending, weren’t they?

Several people around me, including family and acquaintances, were infected, and I’m sharing notes on what I did to resolve the issue.

  • Delete all browser cache, cookies, history, etc.
  • Uninstall suspicious programs with IObit Uninstaller

That’s all I did - just these two things. Once resolved, IObit Uninstaller becomes a resident program that can be bothersome, so let’s uninstall that too.

It took several hours to resolve, so we need to be careful when browsing the internet by “not opening suspicious sites” and “not clicking on dubious ads or links.”

That’s all from the Gemba.
