I received a request from the accounting department asking me to help with an error message appearing in a certain bank’s transfer system that was causing forced shutdowns.

Here’s an excerpt from the email:

○○ Bank's transfer system only supports Internet Explorer, so I'm using Internet Explorer, but today it's acting very poorly. As soon as I log into the bank's system, it freezes and shows the following message before forcibly shutting down.

Internet Explorer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. The program will be closed and Windows will notify you if a solution is available.

I called the bank’s support center, but they said it’s probably a problem with my Internet Explorer and told me to restart or wait some time, but there’s no sign of it being fixed.

Should I reinstall Internet Explorer or something?

I can’t transfer money at all and I’m in big trouble.

Solution

The problem was resolved by deleting Internet Explorer’s cache.

The cause is unknown, but if you’re troubled by similar errors, deleting your browser cache might help.

That’s all from the Gemba.
