After Reading 'Building Trust with Team Members: Recommendation for Regular One-on-One Meetings,' I Tried 1on1 and It Was Great!
After reading “Building Trust with Team Members: Recommendation for Regular One-on-One Meetings” - Cookpad Developer Blog and trying 1on1 in practice, I’m writing this down so I don’t forget the fact that it was good.
I had what was essentially a casual chat disguised as a meeting for about 30 minutes. After finishing the meeting, I felt again that it’s important to intentionally secure about 30 minutes of time, or else you get overwhelmed by daily work tasks, which is not good. We were able to talk about topics we don’t usually discuss, so it was the right choice to forcibly create a conversation opportunity.
I’d like to continue 1on1 meetings at about a biweekly pace from now on. Also, I hadn’t been taking time for meetings with just the engineers within the team, so I feel like doing this about once a week would be productive.
That’s all from the Gemba.
