I set up a custom domain to create a campaign site on Tumblr, but the settings page was confusing, so I wrote this article as a memo.
Basically, the Tumblr official site has all the necessary content. However, without screenshots it’s hard to understand, so the second blog article complements that aspect.
I thought setting up the custom domain would take just a few minutes, but it failed Tumblr’s domain test and showed an error message.
Even after a day, the test wouldn’t pass, so I contacted them through the Tumblr help page, and tried again another day later. I was then able to successfully set up the custom domain from the Tumblr dashboard.
When I checked with the nslookup command, I could confirm canonical name = domains.tumblr.com., so maybe Tumblr’s domain test processing was caching something?
That’s all from the Gemba.
