I sometimes initialize AirMac Extreme back to factory settings, so I’ll introduce the reset method.
AirMac Extreme Reset Button
The AirMac Extreme reset button is located to the right of the AC power inlet.
How to Initialize AirMac Extreme
There are two ways to initialize AirMac Extreme: “Soft Reset” and “Factory Default Reset.”
Soft Reset
- Choose "Applications" > "Utilities" and open AirPort Utility.
- Choose "AirPort Utility" > "Check for Updates."
- Install the latest version of firmware and AirPort Utility available for your Mac.
- Connect the base station to power.
- Using a pen tip, pencil lead, or straightened paper clip, hold down the reset button for 10 seconds.
- Release the button and the base station will perform a soft reset.
Factory Default Reset
- Disconnect the base station from power.
- Using a pen tip, pencil lead, or straightened paper clip, hold down the reset button while connecting the base station to power. Continue holding the button for about 5 seconds until the three LED lights flash rapidly.
- Release the button and the base station will reset to factory settings.
That’s all from the Gemba.
