Ideas for Not Working with 'People You Don't Want to Work With'
An acquaintance consulted me, so I brainstormed ideas for not having to work with “people you don’t want to work with.”
If you’re a manager or have personnel authority, deeply reflect that it was your hiring mistake and encourage their resignation.
Give feedback to the person about the “points that made you not want to work with them” and tell them directly if there’s room for improvement.
Based on my past experience, even when giving direct feedback, there’s rarely any improvement in most cases.
If there’s a trustworthy, influential boss, I think it’s worth telling them.
If you can explain that the “person you don’t want to work with” is incompetent or bringing harm to the company from perspectives other than personal emotions, they might be fired outright. Since the “person you don’t want to work with” would disappear from the company, everything would be resolved.
Ask your boss for a department transfer for the “person you don’t want to work with” or a change in work assignments.
Finally, if there’s no other way, leave the company yourself. Or give up.
That’s all about hoping there are no “people you don’t want to work with” from the Gemba.
