I’ll introduce StatusCake, a free website monitoring and HTTPs monitoring service.
I was using the free plan of HTTP(s) monitoring service Pingdom for uptime monitoring, but since the free plan was discontinued, I was looking for an alternative service.
When I searched with the keywords “pingdom alternative free”, StatusCake seemed promising, so I decided to register as a new member and try it out.
I registered this site https://codenote.net/ using the New Basic HTTP/S Test from Uptime Monitoring.
When you click the Send Test Alert button, a test email with the subject “StatusCake Test Email” is delivered.
Finally, click the Save Now button to complete the monitoring registration.
You can choose from over 10 notification destinations besides email, including Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, and more.
In my case, I created a #alert channel in Slack and set up an Incoming WebHook Slack App to send notifications there, so I can receive notifications in Slack as well.
That’s all from the Gemba, where we want to use HTTPs monitoring services for free.
