Corporate Engineer Night

Background

Since people from the Information Systems (corp-engr) Slack community that I’ve been interacting with recently were organizing and participating, I decided to join as well.

  • Executives can't read text
  • Express value in numbers
  • Don't seek accuracy

Since I’ll soon be on the executive side myself, I want to be careful not to be told “can’t read text.”

? The approach of quantifying “Corporate IT department’s provided value” in Google Spreadsheets and proposing it to management is effective.

Networking Session

When I asked the senior information systems people, “I’m starting a startup soon, is there anything I should do early on?”, I received lots of advice, so here it is:

? MS startup program offers Office 365 free for a certain period

? Microsoft for Startups

? Tell Apple Store you’ve started a company and have them issue a corporate account

? Apple 製品を会社として導入するための準備をした話

? In the early startup phase, just implementing G Suite is enough for information systems work

Multiple senior information systems people gave me the same advice: “You don’t need to do anything until you exceed 50 employees,” so I decided to just do the minimum G Suite implementation.

Starting with thorough information systems work from the beginning increases operational costs.

? Account management is difficult when clients issue accounts for outsourced projects

I heard from an information systems person at a certain outsourcing company that managing accounts for outsourced projects is a challenge. There wasn’t a particular solution discussed at the time.

That’s all from participating in ‘Corporate Engineer Night #2: We’ll Become Beloved Corporate IT’ from the Gemba.
