I read ‘Let’s Talk About Failures. What We Learned by Pushing Forward Through ‘Not Knowing Anything” by Yosuke Tsuji (『失敗を語ろう。「わからないことだらけ」を突き進んだ僕らが学んだこと』辻庸介(著)), so I’ll share the insights I gained from the book.

Background: Book by Money Forward Founding CEO / 背景 マネーフォワード社 創業社長の著書

This is a book by Money Forward founding CEO Yosuke Tsuji, so I read it 📚

Below are quotes and notes from parts that left an impression on me.

Weekend Startup Gathered "Serious Companions" / 週末起業で〝本気の仲間〟が集まった

"If you really want to challenge yourself, start with weekend entrepreneurship and set regular meetings for Saturday mornings every week. Even if people say 'I'll cooperate' verbally, most will stop coming eventually, so you'll quickly know who's serious."

(「どうしてもチャレンジしたいなら、週末起業から始めて、定例ミーティングは毎週土曜朝に設定するといい。口では『協力するよ』と言っても、そのうち来なくなる人がほとんどだから、誰が本気かすぐわかる」)

💡 I’ve experienced this approach at another startup, so I understand the merits and demerits well. (別のスタートアップで自分もこの取り組みを経験してるので、メリット・デメリットはよく理解している。)

Merits

  • Can measure your own seriousness
  • Can reduce mismatches for each other

Demerits

  • Accepting and management burden increases
  • Regular meetings remain on Saturday every week until the company reaches later phase
  • In middle/later stages, having regular meetings every Saturday reduces recruiting power

That’s all from the Gemba on remembering my past experience with weekend entrepreneurship.
