I verified and discovered that in Google Data Studio, when using “Share with specific users or groups,” groups containing @gmail.com cannot be granted permissions even if domain permissions are allowed, so I’ll share this finding.

Prerequisites: Google Workspace with "Restrict Sharing Outside Trusted Domains" Already Configured

In a Google Data Studio owned by a user from a Google Workspace where “Restrict sharing outside trusted domains” has already been configured, I investigated whether it’s possible to share with @gmail.com users using “Share with specific users or groups.”

Google Data Studio "Share with Specific Users or Groups" Verification Steps and Results

  1. Create Google Group [email protected]
  2. Add @gmail.com to the created Google Group
  3. Share Google Data Studio with [email protected]
  4. When opening Google Data Studio with the @gmail.com account, "Can't access report" is displayed

That’s all from the Gemba regarding verifying the behavior of Google Data Studio’s “Share with specific users or groups.”
