Switching Onamae.com Name Servers from dns01.gmoserver.jp to 01.dnsv.jp Broke POP/SMTP Server Connection
I’ll share the story of how switching Onamae.com name servers from dns01.gmoserver.jp to 01.dnsv.jp broke the connection to POP/SMTP servers.
When I switched from Onamae.com’s provided name server dns01.gmoserver.jp
to name server 01.dnsv.jp
, a problem occurred where various email clients (Becky!, Outlook, etc.) could no longer connect to Onamae Email.
For information about each name server, please refer to 【ドメイン】DNSレコードの設定方法は?お名前.comのDNSレコード設定は利用できる?|ヘルプサポート | お名前.com.
The following issues occurred when POP/SMTP connection to Onamae Email servers was lost:
The cause was that people who had configured their settings long ago had outdated authentication information for POP/SMTP servers, and this old authentication information became unusable after switching name servers.
※ It appears there was a change on Onamae.com’s side several years ago.
After reconfiguring with current POP/SMTP server authentication information, I was able to successfully connect to the email servers.
That’s all from the Gemba about losing connection to POP/SMTP servers after switching Onamae.com name servers from dns01.gmoserver.jp to 01.dnsv.jp.
